ROAD TRAFFIC ORDINANCE (Chapter 374)
RESCISSION OF TEMPORARY SPEED LIMITS ON SHING MUN TUNNEL ROAD EASTBOUND AND TAI PO ROAD – SHA TIN NORTHBOUND

In exercise of the powers vested in me under section 40(2)(a) of the Road Traffic Ordinance, Chapter 374, I hereby direct that with effect from 2.00 am. on 31 October 2024, the temporary speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour on following road sections as gazetted in G.N. 68 of 2024 will be rescinded: -

    1. The section of Shing Mun Tunnel Road eastbound from a point about 100 metres west of its junction with Tai Po Road - Sha Tin to the same junction; and
    2. The section of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin northbound from its junction with Shing Mun Tunnel Road to a point about 2000 metres north of the same junction.

In addition, the following road sections will continue to be temporarily subject to a speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour till 27 December 2024: -

c. The section of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin southbound from a point about 350 metres south of its junction with Sha Tin Road to its junction with Tsing Sha Highway; and
d. The section of Shing Mun Tunnel Road westbound from its junction with Tai Po Road – Sha Tin to a point about 100 metres west of the same junction.

At the same time, the existing speed limits on the road sections (c) and (d) will be temporarily rescinded.

Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists.
