Taxi owners and drivers surveyed on proposed urban fare concession
At the request of the urban taxi trade, the Transport Department (TD) this week is surveying the views of taxi owners and drivers on the proposed urban taxi fare concession.
"We have appointed Maunsell Consultants Asia Ltd as our consultant to conduct the questionnaire survey with all registered owners of 15,250 urban taxis and about 40,000 in-service taxi drivers," a TD spokesmen said today (May 28).
"The questionnaires were sent to all registered owners of urban taxis by post last Sunday. They are requested to return the completed questionnaires to the TD by Monday, June 2 at the latest.
"As for in-service taxi drivers, they can express their views by completing the questionnaires at the 29 designated LPG gas refilling stations where field staff of the consultant will conduct face-to-face interviews with them round the clock from 11am on May 30 (Friday) to 11am on May 31."
A list of designated LPG gas refilling stations is annexed below.
"Taxi drivers are welcome to express their views on the proposed urban taxi fare concession," the spokesman said. "They are requested to provide their names and the registration marks of their taxis. Taxi drivers may visit the LPG gas refilling stations in non-peak hours to minimise obstruction and congestion.
"TD's consultant will complete the survey as soon as possible. We will then further discuss the issue with the urban taxi trade and it is expected the survey results will be available by mid-June," the spokesmen said.
