Join Transport Day this Sunday

******************************

Do you know what the Transport Department was called in the 1960s? And what efforts have been made to "Keep Hong Kong Moving"? Join  Transport Day this Sunday (September 28) and you will find the answers.

Transport Day is one of the celebratory activities for the 40th anniversary of the Transport Department. Over 40 transport operators and organisations will participate in the event. The public may look back at changes in Hong Kong's transport system over the past 40 years in a "time tunnel" at the exhibition zone. Different transport operators and organisations will also set up game booths.

The department's vision is "Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal". One way to make that happen is to educate children on the importance of road safety. On Transport Day, children will present to their peers this important message through a musical drama and other performances. There will be a "children's corner" where kids may try driving under the guidance of a driving instructor. They can also learn road safety tips at game booths specially designed for them.

Some transport operators will display vehicles such as buses, taxis, light buses, rescue vehicles, accessible hire cars, renewable energy powered vehicles. There will be an exhibition of valuable models of various modes of transport and lots of stage performances for visitors.

Transport Day will be held on September 28 from 10am to 5pm at  Victoria Park (No. 4, 5 and 6 soccer pitches), Causeway Bay.

Event details and tickets to Transport Day can be found on the Transport Department website (www.td.gov.hk).
