Latest public transport situation (up to 10.30am)

*************************************************

     Public transport in Hong Kong has mostly resumed normal operations today (September 24) after the typhoon.

     The MTR, KMB, Long Win Bus, Peak Tram, Tramways and Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang Shuttle Bus (Yellow Bus) services have resumed as normal.  Services of New World First Bus, Citybus and New Lantao Bus Company are also gradually resuming as normal.

     Most of the ferry services have resumed.

     Members of the public should contact public transport operators for specific service details and remember that, although the situation is returning to normal, some delays may occur. They are advised to be patient.

     Owing to heavy traffic, the vicinity of Container Port Road South and Container Port Road in Kwai Chung is congested and the traffic queue ends at Princess Margaret Hospital on the Mei Foo bound side. Meanwhile, traffic at San Tin Highway and San Tin Roundabout are expected to be heavy as a large number of vehicles are heading to or leaving Huanggang/Lok Ma Chau checkpoint.

     Due to fallen objects or dangerous scaffolding, the following roads are closed to all vehicular traffic:

- all lanes of Kowloon Park Drive, Yau Ma Tei bound, near Peking Road;
- all lanes of Cheung Wan Road Flyover, in both directions, near China Travel Cargo Centre;
- the middle and slow lanes of Ferry Street going towards Tsim Sha Tsui near Sai Kung Street; and
- all lanes of Wo Yi Hop Road between Cheung Wing Road and Lee Muk Road.

     Motorists are advised not to drive into those areas and to use alternative routes. Members of the public are advised to tune into TV/radio broadcasts to obtain the latest news on road conditions.
