Traffic and transport arrangements for Paralympic Equestrian Events in Sha Tin

Radio and TV announcers please broadcast the following messages as soon as possible:

     The 2008 Paralympic Equestrian Events will be held today (September 9) from 5pm to midnight at the Sha Tin venue on Yuen Wo Road (near Sha Tin Fire Station). Spectators should use rail services to University Station for interchange with the free shuttle bus services provided by the Equestrian Company to the Sha Tin venue. Services on MTR Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line and East Rail Line will be enhanced to match the event schedule.

     Spectators taking taxis can alight at the taxi stand at Tak Hau Street outside Wo Che Estate, while spectators taking private cars or coaches can alight at Fung Shun Street and take a 15-minute walk to the Sha Tin venue.

     The traffic in Sha Tin area, in particular the Ma Liu Shui Public Transport Interchange outside University Station, may be busier than usual.  Residents of Sha Tin and Ma On Shan are strongly advised to take rail services and avoid driving to the Ma Liu Shui Public Transport Interchange.

     Depending on the situation, the Police will implement special traffic management measures at short notice, including further road closures and traffic diversions.

     Spectators and the public are advised to plan their journeys and allow more travelling time to cater for unexpected delays.  They are also advised to watch out for announcements by the Police and the Transport Department as well as the latest traffic news broadcast by radio and television stations.
