Special Chung Yeung traffic and transport arrangements at Tseung Kwan O

**********************************************************

With the large number of grave sweepers expected to go to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery around Chung Yeung Festival, special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in nearby roads, a Transport Department spokesman said today (September 8).

Road closure measures for the coming Chung Yeung Festival will be similar to previous arrangements. The access road leading to the cemetery will be closed to all vehicular traffic, except emergency vehicles, from 5.30am to 8pm on October 7 (the day of Chung Yeung Festival).

A general road closure will also be implemented on September 21, 28, and October 1, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 from 5.30am to 6pm. All vehicles, except KMB special bus route No.14S, emergency vehicles, hearses, vehicles in funeral processions and vehicles possessing a permit issued by the cemetery, are prohibited from using the access road leading to the cemetery. KMB's special bus route, running between Lei Yue Mun Road, Yau Tong and the cemetery, will provide service between 7am and 5.25pm.

The spokesman appealed to the public to make full use of public transport, avoid going to the cemetery on busy days and to follow the instructions of the Police or other personnel on duty. People taking KMB route No.14S should take note of the dates of the general road closure.
