Special traffic and transport arrangements for Spectacular Parade on July 2

The Transport Department today (June 30) reminded people that the following special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented on Monday (July 2) to facilitate the Central and Western District Spectacular Parade and Carnival in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region:

1. Road closures
   i) Queen's Road West between Belcher's Street and Kennedy Town Praya will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 11am to 6.30pm.
   ii) From 2.30pm to 6.30pm,
     * Queen's Road West between Hill Road and Kennedy Town Praya;
     * Belcher's Street between Queen's Road West and Davis Street;
     * Sai Cheung Street between Belcher's Street and Kennedy Town Praya; and
    * The junction of Belcher's Street with Sands Street and Smithfield will be closed intermittently for the passage of the parade team.

2. Temporary Public Transport Service Arrangements
   During the road closure of Belcher's Street,
   i) Bus routes 1, 5, 5B, 10, 18, 18P, 101, 104, 113, 811, 904, 971, M47, A10 and green minibus routes 12, 13 and 54 on their Kennedy Town bound journeys will be diverted to travel via Hill Road northbound, Des Voeux Road West westbound, Kennedy Town Praya, Sands Street, Rock Hill Street, Smithfield, Forbes Street and Cadogan Street; and
   ii) Green minibus routes 23, 58 and 59 will be temporarily converted to circular operation and travel via Rock Hill Street.

3. Temporary Suspension of Parking Spaces
   i) The on-street parking spaces on North Street between Belcher's Street and Rock Hill Street, Forbes Street, and Cadogan Street will be temporarily suspended; and
   ii) The ingress and egress of car parks of Cosco Hotel and Westwood will be closed intermittently for the passage of the parade team during the road closure period.

     People are reminded to allow more travelling time if they have to pass through the affected areas, and listen to the radio for the latest traffic news. For those who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In cases of traffic obstruction, motorists are urged to exercise patience, and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
