Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements on Tung Chung Road, Lantau Island for Ching Ming Festival 2025

      Notice is hereby given that, the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on Tung Chung Road during the Ching Ming Festival 2025:

(A) Special Traffic Arrangements

      A section of closed road of Tung Chung Road between Shek Mun Kap Road and South Lantau Road will be temporarily opened for all vehicles to access from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily on the following dates:

      - 29 March 2025 (Saturday);
      - 30 March 2025 (Sunday);
      - 4 April 2025 (Friday);
      - 5 April 2025 (Saturday); and
      - 6 April 2025 (Sunday).

      All other roads and access roads in South Lantau remain closed 24 hours daily. All motor vehicles, except emergency vehicles and those with valid Lantau Closed Road Permits, are banned from entering the closed road.

(B) Special Transport Arrangements

      Apart from bus routes serving Tung Chung Road, NLB Route No. 34S (Tung Chung Tat Tung Road Bus Terminus – Tung Chung Cemetery Area No. 18 (Circular)) will be operated from 8.45 a.m. to 1.15 p.m. on 4 April 2025 (Friday) at a frequency of 30 to 45 minutes.

(C) Attention and Appeal

  1. Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to indicate the extent of road closure and guide motorists.
  2. Actual implementation of and adjustments to road closure, traffic control and public transport diversions will be made by the Police during Ching Ming Festival depending on road condition. Police officers will be on-site to guide the motorists.
  3. The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Tung Chung Cemetery Area No. 18 will be relatively busy. Motorists are advised not to drive to the congested and affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience and observe the instruction given by the Police, and watch out for the latest traffic news through the media.
  4. Grave-sweepers are advised to plan their journey early and allow more travelling time, and use public transport services as far as possible.
  5. The bus company will display notices to advise passengers of the above temporary public transport service arrangements.
  6. Motorists are advised that, any vehicles found illegally parked in the vicinity of Tung Chung Road may be towed away by the Police without prior notice.
  7. For updated and latest traffic and transport information, members of the public can visit the TD's website (td.gov.hk) or use the mobile application "HKeMobility".
