Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements in Sha Tin for the Che Kung Festival 2025

        Notice is hereby given that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Sha Tin for the Che Kung Festival 2025 during the Lunar New Year festive period:

        (I) ROAD CLOSURE

(A) From 8.00 pm on 28 January 2025 to 8.00 pm on 2 February 2025, the following road sections will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic, except for emergency vehicles:

    1. The slow lane of Che Kung Miu Road westbound between Sha Tin Tau Road and Chui Tin Street;
    2. The right-turn lane of Che Kung Miu Road westbound between Chui Tin Street and Che Kung Temple;
    3. The slow lane of Chui Tin Street northbound between Che Kung Miu Road and the entrance of Sun Chui Estate near Sun Fong House; and
    4. The slow lane of Chui Tin Street southbound between Che Kung Miu Road and the entrance of Sun Chui Estate near Sun Fong House.
(B) From 8.00 pm on 28 January 2025 to 8.00 pm on 2 February 2025, the following cycle tracks will be temporarily closed:

    1. The cycle track along Tsuen Nam Road between Tai Wai Road and the western riverside of Shing Mun River Channel;
    2. The cycle track along the western riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Tai Wai Soccer Pitch and Che Kung Miu Road;
    3. The cycle track along the eastern riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Tai Wai Soccer Pitch and Man Lai Court;
    4. The cycle track connecting the eastern and western riverside of Shing Mun River Channel near Block 1 of Man Lai Court;
    5. The cycle tracks along both sides of Che Kung Miu Road between Chui Tin Street and Sha Tin Tau Road;
    6. The cycle track inside the subway system at the junction between Che Kung Miu Road and Chui Tin Street;
    7. The cycle track inside the subway system at the junction between Che Kung Miu Road and Sha Tin Tau Road;
    8. The cycle track along southern kerbside lane of Che Kung Miu Road between Chui Tin Street and Island School Tai Wai; and
    9. The cycle tracks along both sides of Chui Tin Street between Che Kung Miu Road and the unnamed road leading to public car park adjacent to Che Kung Temple.

During the closure of the above cycle tracks, cyclists are advised to use the cycle track along the northern riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Lion Rock Tunnel Road and Shing Wan Road for commuting to/from Sha Tin.

        (II) BANNING OF TURNING MOVEMENT

From 8.00 pm on 28 January 2025 to 8.00 pm on 2 February 2025, all vehicles, except for emergency vehicles, would be prohibited from:

    1. Turning left from Che Kung Miu Road westbound onto Chui Tin Street;
    2. Turning right from Che Kung Miu Road westbound onto the private road of Car Park of The Wai;
    3. Turning left from Chui Tin Street southbound onto the road leading to the public car park at Chui Tin Street near Che Kung Temple;
    4. Turning right from Chui Tin Street northbound onto the road leading to the public car park at Chui Tin Street near Che Kung Temple;
    5. Turning right from Chui Tin Street southbound onto the entrance of Sun Chui Estate near Sun Fong House; and
    6. Heading straight from Chui Tin Street northbound onto the private road of Car Park of The Wai.

        (III) TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS

    1. Affected vehicles on Che Kung Miu Road westbound heading for Chui Tin Street southbound and the private road of Car Park of The Wai will be diverted via Che Kung Miu Road westbound, roundabout and Che Kung Miu Road eastbound;
    2. Affected vehicles on Chui Tin Street southbound heading for the entrance of Sun Chui Estate near Sun Fong House will be diverted via Chui Tin Street southbound, Chui Tin Street westbound, roundabout, Chui Tin Street eastbound and Chui Tin Street northbound; and
    3. Affected vehicles on Chui Tin Street northbound heading for the private road of Car Park of The Wai will be diverted via Che Kung Miu Road westbound, roundabout and Che Kung Miu Road eastbound.

        (IV) PUBLIC TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

(A) Suspension of Bus and Green Minibus (GMB) Stops

During the above road closure, the following bus and GMB stops will be suspended:

    1. The stops on Che Kung Miu Road westbound outside Lee Uk Village near Che Kung Temple for KMB Route Nos. 81C, 82K, 86A, 87B, 89B, 249X, 281, 286A, 287X, N281, Cross Harbour Route Nos. 170, 182, N170, N182, LWB Route Nos. A41, E42, E42C, N42, NA41, R42, CTB Route Nos. 79, B8 and GMB Route Nos. 68K, 803, 804, 812; and
    2. The stop at Chui Tin Street southbound and northbound outside San Tin Village for KMB Route No. 80K.

(B) Temporary Pick-up/Drop-off Arrangements for Taxis and Non-franchised Buses

During the above road closure,

    1. Members of the public are advised to use the taxi stands on Tsuen Nam Road near Tai Wai Station or in Tai Wai Station Public Transport Interchange;
    2. Non-franchised buses are advised to pick up or set down passengers in Tai Wai Station Public Transport Interchange; and
    3. All non-franchised buses will be prohibited from entering Chui Tin Street. Drivers of non-franchised buses will be advised to pick up or set down passengers at locations according to the instructions from Police officers on site.

(C) Strengthening of Public Transport Services

During the Lunar New Year festive period, services of East Rail Line and Tuen Ma Line, and franchised bus and GMB to/from Tai Wai Station and Che Kung Temple Station will be strengthened to cater for passenger demand when necessary.

(V) Suspension of Car Park

    1. The public car park at Chui Tin Street adjacent to Che Kung Temple will be suspended (except for emergency vehicles and those authorized by Police officers on site) from 6.00 am on 28 January 2025 to 8.00 pm on 2 February 2025, and from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm daily on 8, 9, 15 and 16 February 2025; and
    2. The public car park at Chui Tin Street adjacent to Greenview Garden will be suspended (except for emergency vehicles and those authorized by Police officers on site) from 6.00 am on 28 January 2025 to 8.00 pm on 2 February 2025.

(VI) CROWD CONTROL

During the Lunar New Year festive period, one-way pedestrian flow will be implemented in the vicinity Che Kung Temple. Members of the public are advised to follow the designated pedestrian route to/from Che Kung Temple and to follow the instructions given by Police officers on site.

(VII) ATTENTION AND APPEAL

Appropriate traffic aids will be provided and Police officers will be stationed on site to guide pedestrians and motorists. Public transport operators will display notices to advise passengers of the above temporary public transport arrangements. Actual implementation of the road closure, traffic control and traffic diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on the traffic and crowd conditions.

Motorists are advised that strict enforcement including multiple ticketing and towing of illegally parked vehicles will be taken by the Police in the areas concerned.

Due to the foreseeable busy traffic in Tai Wai area, members of the public are strongly advised to use public transport services to Che Kung Temple during the Lunar New Year festive period.
