Special traffic and transport arrangements for event to be held in Wan Chai North this Wednesday
The Transport Department (TD) today (November 20) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Wan Chai North in connection with the event to be held in Wan Chai North this Wednesday (November 22).
The special traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:
* The bus terminus at Expo Drive East will be suspended from about 6am to 2pm on November 22;
* The following bus stops will be suspended from about 6am to 2pm on November 22:
1. Expo Drive East near Convention Avenue;
2. Expo Drive East outside Golden Bauhinia Square;
3. Harbour Road outside Central Plaza; and
4. Harbour Road outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre;
* Citybus route No. 25A, New World First Bus route No. H1 and cross-harbour route Nos. 961 and 961P will be temporarily diverted in phases from about 6am on November 22;
* The taxi stand at Expo Drive will be suspended in phases from about 6am to 2pm on November 22; and
* The parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces at Lung King Street and Expo Drive East will be suspended from about 7pm on November 21 to 2pm on November 22.
The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Wan Chai North will be more congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police.
Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to plan their routes early, allow more travelling time to cater for unexpected delay, and use public transport services as far as possible. Public transport commuters are advised to pay attention to the arrangements of route diversion and changes of stop locations.
Depending on the actual traffic conditions in the areas, other ad-hoc traffic and transport measures, including road closures, traffic diversion, alteration and suspension of public transport services may be implemented by the Police. Members of the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
