The existing road infrastructure and railways as at the end of 2006 are shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
Major Road and Rail Infrastructure Projects
The major road infrastructure proposals on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon and the New Territories are shown in Figures 4 and 5 respectively. Details of the major highway projects under construction and planning as at the end of 2006 are given in Tables 1.1 and 1.2 respectively.
The three railway projects under construction are listed in Table 1.3. Upon commissioning, the Sheung Shui to Lok Ma Chau Spur Line will relieve the existing congestion at Lo Wu Station and provide additional capacity to meet the cross-boundary traffic demand. The Kowloon Southern Link will connect the West Rail Nam Cheong Station with East Tsim Sha Tsui Station of East Rail, with an intermediate station at West Kowloon. The Tseung Kwan O South Station is an extension of Tseung Kwan O Line branching out from Tseung Kwan O Station. Railway projects under planning are shown in Figures 6 and listed in Table 1.4.
