Section 2Transport Administration

Transport Advisory Committee

The Transport Advisory Committee advises the Chief Executive in Council on broad issues of transport policy and major transport-related proposals to facilitate the continuous development of Hong Kong. The Committee comprises a chairman and 18 members including three government officials. The Committee also supervises the operation of the Transport Complaints Unit, which is responsible for receiving and handling complaints and suggestions from the public on transport and traffic matters.

The Committee holds regular meetings. Some of the major subjects considered by the Committee in 2020 included Star Ferry’s fare increase application, public transport operators’ efforts in combatting COVID-19, review of the use of electric mobility devices, latest progress to increase car parking provision and proposed implementation of a free-flow tolling system at government tolled tunnels and Tsing Sha Control Area, etc. The Committee recommended a host of short, medium and long-term measures in December 2014 to alleviate road traffic congestion. In 2020, the Government continued to take forward the recommended measures progressively.

Transport-related complaints or suggestions can be sent to the Transport Complaints Unit either by phone at 2889 9999, by fax at 2577 1858 or by e-mail at info@tcu.gov.hk. Online complaint and suggestion forms are available at the homepage of the Transport Complaints Unit at www.info.gov.hk/tcu.
