Transport Advisory Committee
The role of the Transport Advisory Committee is to advise the Chief Executive in Council on broad issues of transport policy and major transport-related proposals to facilitate the continuous development of Hong Kong. The Committee comprises a chairman and 17 members including three Government officials. The Committee also supervises the operation of the Transport Complaints Unit, which is responsible for receiving and handling complaints and suggestions from the public on transport and traffic matters.
The Committee holds regular meetings. Some of the major issues considered by the Committee in 2013 include the Review and Update of the “Railway Development Strategy 2000”, proposed measures put forward by the Government to improve the traffic distribution among the road harbour crossings, mid-term review on the six major outlying island ferry routes, rationalising bus service more vigorously through “Area Approach”, fare increase applications from the Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Limited and the taxi trade, and toll adjustment application from tunnel franchisee, etc.
