Opening of Tuen Mun Road Bus-Bus Interchange
Members of pubic are advised that Tuen Mun Road Bus-Bus Interchange (Kowloon bound) (the "BBI"), which is located near Siu Lam Interchange in Tuen Mun, will be commissioned on 26 December 2012 (Wed).
(A) Bus Service Arrangements
The BBI provides a convenient interchanging facility for residents in Tuen Mun and along Castle Peak Road. Bus passengers can interchange at the BBI from short-haul routes to long-haul routes destined for urban areas, like Kowloon East, Sha Tin, Kowloon City, Hung Hom and Jordan.
A total of four short-haul and five long-haul bus routes will start calling at the BBI upon its commissioning. The routes include:
(I) Short-haul Routes
(1) 59M (Tuen Mun Pier Head - Tsuen Wan Station) ;
(2) 61M (Yau Oi (South) - Lai King (North)) ;
(3) 67M (Siu Hong Court - Kwai Fong Station) ; and
(4) 68A (Long Ping Estate - Tsing Yi Station).
(II) Long-haul Routes
(1) 60X (Tuen Mun Central - Jordan (To Wah Road));
(2) 61X (Tuen Mun Station - Kowloon City Ferry);
(3) 263 (Tuen Mun Station - Sha Tin Station);
(4) 260X (Po Tin - Hung Hom Station); and
(5) 259D (Lung Mun Oasis - Yau Tong).
Three additional short-haul routes will call at the BBI from 26 January 2013. These routes include:
(1) 58M (Leung King Estate - Kwai Fong Station);
(2) 60M (Tuen Mun Central - Tsuen Wan Station; and
(3) 66M/66P (Tai Hing - Tsuen Wan Station).
Passengers interchanging from short-haul routes to long-haul routes at the BBI will only be charged the fare difference between the routes concerned, such that the total fare will be the same as the long-haul one. Bus company has already provided bus route information at the BBI to advise passengers of the bus interchange arrangements.
(B) Traffic Arrangements
A general lay-by is provided at the BBI for motorists (except for goods vehicles) to pick up or set down passengers. At the same time, Red minibuses and vehicles driven by learner drivers are prohibited from entering into the BBI. Appropriate traffic signs will also be erected on site to guide motorists.
