Special traffic and transport arrangements for Lion Dance Parade on Sunday

The Transport Department today (June 22) reminded people about the special traffic and transport arrangements for the Lion Dance Parade in Tsim Sha Tsui on Sunday morning (June 24).

     A spokesman for the Transport Department said that the Lion Dance Parade would start at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and travel via Canton Road and Austin Road West.  To facilitate the parade, a series of special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented from 9.15am subject to the actual traffic and crowd conditions.  The arrangements include:

  -  temporary partial closure of Canton Road and Austin Road West in Tsim Sha Tsui;
  -  additional road closure may be implemented depending on the crowd situation;
  -  temporary route diversion of bus and green minibus services; and
  -  temporary suspension of some bus terminus, bus stops, green minibus stands, taxi stands, and car parks.

     People who need to go to the China Hong Kong Ferry Terminal should plan their journey in advance.  Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas.  In case of traffic congestion, they should exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of instructions given by the Police on site.

     The Transport Department and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation, and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. People are advised to pay attention to the information on the latest traffic situations broadcast via the mass media.

     Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available at the Transport Department's website: http://www.td.gov.hk/traffic_notices/index_inmode_3_trafficid_8349.htm.
