Introduction

With effect from 28 March 2023, the vacant test slots in Repeater Early Test Appointment Booking Service ("the RETAS") will be allocated by computer balloting. Eligible candidates can register for the balloting via the website of Online Booking for Driving Tests (www.gov.hk/drivingtest) ("the Online System") or the Repeater Early Test Appointment Booking Service Hotline (2866 8148) ("the Telephone Hotline") from 11:00 am to 11:59 pm on Mondays to Fridays. Ballot winners are required to select their test slot during a specific period on the same day after the ballot, but they are, however, not allowed to select their driving test centre.

The ballot results are announced here at 9:00 a.m. on Mondays to Fridays. You can also enquire the ballot results via the Online System and the Telephone Hotline.

You may check the balloting date in the next 30 calendar days for planning the registration. However, the actual balloting date may be suspended due to bad weather conditions (e.g. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal no. 8 or above, Black Rainstorm Warning Signal). Please note the relevant announcements made via the Online System and the Telephone Hotline.

Identity Authentication

Eligible candidates must register for the balloting in their real name. A repeater early test appointment selected after successful application is not transferrable. When registering for balloting, repeaters are required to input the required candidates' information (e.g. ID number, last driving test attempt date etc.) for identity authentication. Only candidates who have won a ballot can access the Online System or dial the Telephone Hotline to reserve a test slot by using the ballot Personal Identification Number ("PIN") received via the notification means they have selected, i.e. SMS or email, on the ballot winning date. This helps ensure the applications are submitted by the ballot winners themselves. The Department appeals to the candidates to protect their personal information and avoid leakage of personal data, especially their notification means and their personal PIN, to the third party.

System Maintenance

There is scheduled maintenance for the Repeater Early Test Appointment Booking System. The time for service suspension and resumption will be announced in advance through the booking service webpage and telephone booking system; during the maintenance period, applicants will be notified of the resumption time again. Applicants are advised to pay attention to the relevant notice.

In the event of emergent system failure, the Transport Department may not be able to issue the maintenance notice (including the estimated service resumption time) via the booking service webpage and telephone booking system. Applicants are advised to watch out for the progress of maintenance through the booking service webpage and telephone booking system.
